Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County is pleased to partner with Habitat for Humanity Haiti in building homes, communities and hope!
Through the ancient practice of tithing – that is, giving one-tenth of one’s income to support the work of God – we are helping to transform the lives of our Haitian neighbors. The average cost of constructing a new home in Haiti is approximately $12,700 – a small price in our economy, but far out of reach for most Haitians. Over the past four fiscal years (July 2019 – June 2023), Kitsap Habitat has sent nearly $100,000 to Haiti – enough for seven homes!
Habitat Haiti’s current projects include the following:
- Working to rebuild communities destroyed by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in August of 2021.
- Training women in construction in order that they might earn a living wage and attain financial security.
- Providing housing for the elderly in low-income, rural areas.
